My 50th post!

I was going to write about the mentoring and I noticed this is my first milestone. Just for that I'll be running a tiny contest to celebrate. I'll give away an envelope with a magazine, a little piece of Venezuelan aida, a little piece of finishing fabric, some beads, Brazilian thread and some charms. Just add your needle stroke and I'll be picking the winner randomly next Wednesday 25th. Good luck to all.

Well, now to my mentoring. I wanted to take some pictures to show up but some of the kids refused because they want it to have their name on it first, but for now Kimberly and Yuseiry are the best apprentices, they became "helpers" lol
This is one of them:

And her job is very neat!

Also there is a little frustration among some of them who want to do a perfect job right away... Like Kennys who always complaint because his work is not perfect and no one else in the whole wide world stitches as messy as he does lol And the one who wants me to tell her where the needle should go up and down in EVERY stitch, Daybelis, and she's bringing it to class in the mornings because she's so determined to learn... This is her job, got so concentrated on it that didn't noticed when the thread was ending and she stitched a part of it with four strands!

And the one who got mad at her mom because she wash her piece on the washer and it got all ruined, and on top of that hid her needle and thread! Mayerli was so furious, she will have to start all over again from the beginning lol

It is very fulfilling to see them stitching, wanting to finish their pieces, and even wanting to learn some new techniques, Steven noticed right away that my biscornu (the one designed by Banu) has a different kind of stitch and he told me: - You will teach us this too, right? It's so cool!

Cool is how I feel teaching them something, as Joan would say, "normal" to spend their time...

NOTE: To enter the contest just click on "friend's needle strokes" below the post and add your comment, every one posting a comment is automatically into the contest. And thanks to the responses, I think I might give away more than one prize!!!

Hi Sandra,

Congratulations on your milestone. I'm not sure how to enter your contest since the identity spot doesn't have a place for e-mails and I don't have any of the other contact stuff (of course, I may just not understand how this thing works, lol) But my ID on EMS is mcsewing so you can PM me there If I happen to win :)

How cool!!
My DD did that where she started with two but then it was four threads, lol. I can't convince her to keep going, but she tried it anyway.
Please add my name to the contest.

Sandra,

I commend you on your mentoring. I don't think I would have the patience right now. My daughter wants to learn, but has trouble going up and down with the needle, she likes to go around the fabric:-)
Congratulations on your milestone!!
