1 down... 49 to go

I made a New Year's resolution, to stitch, and give away as presents 50 angels through out 2008 (in some sort of prayer for peace in our world) . Well, the first one is flying away, now just need to stitch another 49 lol.

As they go I'll be posting the pictures, but the names will remain secret until they reach destination.

This is angel1, the pattern came from Cross Country Stitching, issue June 1997. Finished as a magnet. She went to Val in England. May she spread the peace around!

Nathaly's T-shirts

As promised. Nathaly's t-shirts, one bright pink the other one black. Don't forget to click on the images for a larger version.

The black one was embroidered with Tropical glow and glow in the dark thread (DMC). It's an awful thread to use, but the effect is lovely. I wanted to achieve a childish kind of look, and it's so difficult to embroider with this thread that the insects and the flowers looks like done by a three year old lol The look I wanted :) Well, picture doesn't make justice to it. Thread is much brighter, fluorescent... The designs come from a template and added some lazy daisies.

The pink one was accented with crocheted flowers and yellow buttons, to add a whimsical touch I added a blue dragon fly (from my collection of shelly's buttons and more. The sleeves were blanket stitched and then added a shell border: five chain stitches on each space of the blanket stitch, then over those five stitches (sc, skip next ch, five dc on the next ch, skip next ch, sc), repeat all around. Thread used was Corrente Camila, color 3010N (multicolor) and Cléa (green). Design was my own.

Now let's wait until quality control (three year old Nathaly) says....

Still here!

Hi I'm still here, haven't post because real life can get so busy sometimes... Anyway, here's what I'd been working on:
  • Two humbugs (dark and light): for the EMS April exchange. Val came up with the idea of using the same thread and the same design but two different shades of fabric. I can't give out the details until my partner gets them. Believe me, I'm bitting my lip!!!! Only I will say that despite the same threads and designs as well as the same type of fabric was used, they look different. It was an interesting job.
  • A fingertip towel, also for an exchange, so picture will be kept until my partner gets it. But is very sweet...
  • Two T-shirts for my Goddaughter Nathaly's third birthday. One pink, with crocheted accents and one black with tropical glows flowers and butterflies... They're not ready yet but as soon as they are I'll post the pictures. Nathaly won't mind lol

Spring foursome

I've just finished my Spring foursome mini pillow kit from Pine Mountain. It's adorable! I like that even the aida is not washed white it has a slight green tint. Well now I have to decide what to do with it because when I bought it I thought it was larger (I'm metric, so have to get use to the measurements in inches and so...)

I wonder why there's so much leftover thread... Happens with the kits, that's nice because they can be useful for small projects, but also kind of makes me nervous to see that amount of thread and I wonder if it's done wrong lol

Well as I said before we have only two seasons here, rainy and dry. We should be on dry season now, but there's been raining since past Thursday (three days in a row), so my guess is with all this world weather change ours is crazy as well.

Don't want to be rambling but have to tell two good news:
  1. I'm a DMC mentor! Now have four students. Have joined the program on DMC's Spain web page. Don't know if they will send me the kit, but they have pretty good material for apprentices.
  2. Finally got to join Love Quilts and I signed up to stitch a square for a little boy. Feel happy about it!
Next step will be to make a comfort doll, or maybe two!
