Who are you?

I found this game on Sharon's blog, thought it might be: who do you think I am? Anyway think it's fun so here it goes:

1. Comment on this post, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you know me a little or a lot, anything you remember! And if we’ve never met in real life, leave me a comment of your favorite post I wrote and why it was your favorite.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It’s actually really funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I’ll assume you’re playing the game and I’ll come to your blog and leave one about you.

3. Do you read my posts from a reader, blogroll or is this your first visit?

Waiting to see what people has to say about me or my posts!

Baby Blossom

Meet Baby Blossom!
As I said, I'm working on a few more comfort dolls. This will be about 4-6 Nature Babies, my plan was to release the pictures when they were all done, but just can't resist to show this one off. I'm so happy with the result! Used the basic idea of a Dotee doll, but used a crocheted instead of a fabric body, as my personal touch.

The flowery trim came on Amali's secret pal exchange. I added the beads as centers using same colors to combine with the thread. See the detail on the back.

The yellow flower was crocheted by me with the new Venezuelan polyester crochet thread, very shiny, and added a fymo butterfly to symbolize the power to fly away looking for better chances.

And his face is really something! I think it's so cute! Specially the curly hair, made with the same thread as the yellow flower...

Well, I hope this baby brings joy to a special someone, hopefully they will all be ready and sent to Pat next week... Next: Rainbow baby.

Mail, mail, mail...

These are some things I got and haven't shown... Now I have a little more time I can share it with you.

My first are the prizes from Cristin (SMO). I won the June 5th twinkle game, which was the portrait kit, I said I would use it for my mentoring, it'll go to Kimberly, since she is so happy with the cross stitch lessons. Well Cristin also added four mini kits for my other students!!! I was so touched! Yuseiry is also so hooked on cross stitch, she can get one kit too. And rumors are the class will grow next year, so I can use the other three as prizes for the other kids too. Thank you Cristin!!!

The second one was from Amali, she was the first person to sent me something from an exotic location lol She lives in Sri Lanka, and was my partner twice on EMS exchanges, I have three bookmarks she stitched for me. This time it was a secret pal + postcard exchange and she sent, what I like to call trim paradise! Beautiful trims to accent the cross stitch pieces. Of course, my god daughter Paola was giving me a few hints of how I could use it and which ones were her favorites hee hee hee Bet I have to do something for her and use the ones she likes. I have my eyes on two of those for the comfort dolls I'm working on. Thank you Amali!!!

And yesterday I got another SMO prize. It was a contest for the red hat booklet, but Janet also included a hardanger booklet with a beautiful sampler and lovely stitchers tools (a must have) and also from my wish list, blue evenweave to practice my drawn thread work... Guess which are my plans for the weekend??? Thank you Janet!!!

God bless you girls!!! I'm happy with all your presents!

Paola's diaries.

As I said, Paola's turning ten and celebrating it with a pajama party.

To make the diaries we bought colored sheets, since they were letter size we thought that cutting it to half was better for the kids to handle. Made them as notebooks binding them with plastic covers and spirals in blue and hot pink, they look different because of the backing sheet color. Kathe, and I'm giving her all the credit because it seemed to much for me, so I didn't help with that, perforated the sheets with a different puncher for each group color, she used hearts, rows with doves and hearts and flowers and hearts. very nice touch, she did it so neatly that you can see the next color through it, too bad I forgot to take a picture...

The idea was to knit a cover and decorate it with flowers, but after looking how cute they seen with just the flowers, Kathe and I decided to drop the knitted cover part, plus we have very little time and the guest list increased from 6 to 8 lol

The butterfly, dragonfly and bee were done using a stamp on a color ink pad and embossing powder, those look so neat! It gives it a shiny glow and add texture, bet the girls will love it! Of course we added a sparkly gel ink pen to each girl, tied with a crocheted cord, also a sheet of stickers, which... oops, forgot to take a picture!

We wanted to personalize each diary but the girls still didn't confirm so it was better not to write their names, just in case. The only ones with names on it are Paola's and Reina's (her cousin).

Small flowers for the guests and the big bright flower for my birthday girl... Don't blame me! I wanted it extra special for her lol That flower took me a whole afternoon...

Hope the girls like those as much as we do! lol At least Paola just call me to tell she didn't like them, she LOVED them! Cool, we're hired again for the next year LOL

Awarded!!!

I've been awarded again! Sue has honored me with:

The rules are:

1. The winner may put the logo on her blog.
2. Put a link to the person you got the award from.
3. Nominate 5 blogs.
4. Put links to the blogs.
5. Leave a message for your nominees.

Again, a though decision since I know there's so much talent out there...My nominees are:

  1. Annie, she can transform anything into a beautiful creation.
  2. Nela, and her wonderful hands.
  3. Susi, she's a gifted stitcher.
  4. Jenn, so many talents in just one person!
  5. Joan, not only an artist by stitching, but also a designer.

Thanks again Sue for the award!!!

I'm back!

It's been a while since my last post, was taking care of my dad, he had a stroke past July 27th, now he's doing better I'm resuming my normal life.

I'm kind sad that my Love Quilt Square didn't make it on time, the due date was August 1st... If they get it later maybe they can use it on another kid's quilt.

Another angel was sent... The count is going down! Let's see how many more can I do this vacation.

About stitching I've been finishing the items for the EMS exchanges: initial scissor fob, design it yourself biscornu and an angel pinkeep. The first two are finished and about to be sent today. The angel pinkeep needs one small detail: the pins! lol How could I forgot to buy them? No pictures until my partners get the items, but I assure you they're cute! lol

Also did some progress on the knitted scarf, but I won't put a picture since it's not so different from the one posted in the 25th.

Did a small purse to give at Paola's birthday, she wants a pajama party but still we're giving party favors.

She didn't like much the option, so this one is going to Camila, she will turn 4 on the 19th. Paola liked better the idea of a diary, we (her aunt Kathe and I) bought some colored sheets, cut them in half and made notebooks with it, but the fancy part is that they will have a crocheted cover with multicolor thread and crocheted flowers as accents! Bet they will be thrilled, also will add stickers and a pen with sparkly ink. It's a lot of work but Kathe will be helping me and Paola will be ten just once!!! As soon as we have one I'll post the picture!

And last, but not least I'm working on a Dotee doll, just that instead of fabric it has a crocheted body, can't wait to see it finish. It will go to the comfort doll project, I'm planning a few of those, since are not so complicated.
