Still here.

Hi there!!! It's been a long time since my last post. A lot has been going on in my life. After my trip to Trinidad past summer, I got back and found my mom was ill with what we thought to be a gastritis due to the medication she was having for her back pain. Long story short, she had metastatic liver cancer. She was in so much pain and we were trying to find out where the primary cancer was to give her the best treatment, but we never did. She passed away on December 10th.
On top of that I was also in charge of my father, he had a stroke back in 2008,  depends on other people to do everything,  can't even walk on his own. My sister has a mental disease, she had a crisis and was delusional, for a few years because she refused to take her meds. The house they were living in belongs to my mom's sister, obviously it had to be returned but my sister refused to leave it. On top of that, I had a suspicious image found on my last mammogram, it was tested and they suggested a biopsy.
I was under a lot of stress, but thank God I got a license at work for six months, my brother is helping my out from the distance (he lives in Houston), also the rest of the family is. My dad is in a home, a nice place where he receives the medical attention and all the care he needs. My sister is hospitalized in a psychiatric facility, run by nuns, she likes it and she will be out in a few months, when she can have an independent life. I had my biopsy and it revealed no cancer but some pre malignant condition. Have to talk to the doctor to see what he suggests.
Little by little I've got back to crafting, not only for my mental health but also to make an extra income, since we are expending so much with dad's and sister's treatment.
In Trinidad I bought a new fancy sewing machine, a Singer Quantum Stylist 9960. We named it «La Fucha», because Rafael (Fucho), washed my brain in order to get it, I had my concerns since it was listed as «used», but in good condition. It came with a bunch of accessories, most of it in the original sealed package. It works wonderfully and I'm more than happy with the purchase, a great deal, 157 $ at Amazon (God bless them and Fucho).
Now I'm working on quilted items, such as baby blankets and bags. The one in the picture is a commission of five. They are due Sunday so I better get back to work.
Sorry I neglected to write for so long. Hopefully I'll be posting more often.
Cyber hugs to all my crafting pals out there!!!

Oh my goodness, Sandra. You have really had a time of it. I'm not sure I'd have the strength to deal with all of that coming so close together.

Glad to see a post from you and hope things will continue to improve for you. A new sewing machine was probably just the pick-me-up you needed!
